Our Cabinet Refinishing Process
Cabinet refinishing takes about a week from start to finish. The first day we arrive to remove all doors and drawers. We also remove any existing hardware from the fixed cabinet boxes. We clean them thoroughly and apply a bonding primer by brush and fine finish mini rollers (We do not spray inside the house.) The second day we sand smooth the primed fixed cabinets. We then apply 2 coats of finish enamel. Your cabinet doors and drawers are given the same treatment except that we apply all materials by spray finish. Our team returns to reinstall your kitchen a week later.

The surface preparation or “prep” is most important in the cabinet refinishing process. Most cabinets are stained and given a clear coat protective finish. This protects them from all the dust, grease, grime that a kitchen is exposed to. We incorporate a number of degreasers and solvent based cleaners depending on the condition of the cabinets. This ensures that the surfaces are thoroughly clean and ready to accept the primer. Our main primer is alcohol based, but we also use alkyd base and oil base primers in certain instances as needed. *All kitchens are unique and can require different applications of cleaners and primers.
With the cleaning process and priming process is finished, we sand the cabinets again with fine grit sandpaper to ensure a professional finish. The finish materials we use are water-based and typically are given a semi-gloss sheen, however satin is also used if you desire. 2 applications of the enamel are given to the cabinets to ensure a finish that is beautiful and durable over the years.
